Did Spain influence Kosrae?
Spain did not influence Kosrae like it did for Pohnpei. The Spanish government came in to Pohnpei with the Catholic Missionaries to make the people of Pohnpei become Catholic Christians. The island of Kosrae was evangelized by the Protestant Missionaries led by Rev. Benjamin Snow in 1852. The island of Kosrae had its own governmental activities to take care especially about the transition from the traditional leadership into the democratic government which the American Missionaries assisted the islanders with.

Were there Spanish traders in Kosrae?
No, there were traders that came to Kosrae, but they were not from Spain. Some examples, like Henry Skilling was an American, and John Melander was a Swede. Both traders settled in Kosrae and established their business and families.
