The following documents were typed by Felisihna Spencer Samuel in the late 1970's as part of a Ponapean Cultural Preservation project undertaken by the Pohnpei Department of Education. Felisihna Spencer Samuel provided the documents that were scanned and posted below.
The two documents were to support a seventh and eighth grade local culture curriculum. The seventh grade document was scanned using optical character recognition software. Lacking a Pohnpeian dictionary for Omnipage 14 and unable to set no dictionary as an option, the scan was run against a non-Pohnpeian dictionary. No suggested changes were accepted, but the document likely suffers from spelling errors as well as some distortions of format.
The eighth grade document was in too poor a condition to OCR, hence that document is maintained as a series of image files. While this assures fidelity, the result is a cumbersome series of image files that could be edited or expanded upon at the time the file was scanned.
