Tae-Yong Han wrote asking about using film and video for teaching the four
skills.

I would second the recommendation for "Video in Action" - a very useful and
practical book.
Another book that I have found useful is: McGovern, J. (Ed.) (1983) Video
Applications in English Language Teaching: ELT Documents : 114 , Oxford,
Pergamon.

I also maintain a website devoted to using video in EFL which might provide
some useful reading. It can be found at:

Here are some video techniques. I hope they're self-explanatory.

a. Imagine the middle part of the story.
b. Guess the setting.
c. Match dialog lines to the picture. (Write dialogs on bd, silent viewing).
d. Change sentence stress according to context.
e. Preparation for a roleplay.
f. Raise awareness of sounds in the stream of speech.
g. Presentation of new items.
h. Imagine what somebody is thinking.
i. Practice of target items.
j. Predicting what someone will say next.
k. Changing moods changing intonation.
l. Preparation for writing.
m. Intensive listening. (Listening to try and understand every
 word/detail.)
n. Communicative split viewing. A context is sometimes needed.(No sound on)
o. Extensive listening also called Receptive listening .
p. Predict what will happen next.
q. Explain what has already happened.
r. Put dialogue or paragraphs in order according to video.
s. Giving a title to a passage on the video.
t. Fast-forward segment so students note down everything they can see.
