COM-FSM Yap State Campus is located on the main island of Yap. The State of Yap is comprised of a state center that is located on the main island and fifteen inhabited outer islands and atolls. The distance between the main island and the outer islands ranges from 5 to 580 miles. Commonly known as the island of Stone Money, Yap has a population of about 13,000 people.
Yap State Campus is located in Yinuf, Rull Municipality across from Yap High School. It serves about 200 students each semester including summer session. The campus offers:
- Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Teacher Preparation
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degrees in Telecommunications Technology, Electronics Technology, and Building Technology
- Certificate of Achievement programs offered are:
- Health Assistant/Community Health Science
- Trial Counselors
- Construction Electricity
- Electronics Engineering
- Telecommunications Technology
- Secretarial Science
- Agriculture and Food Technology
- Bookkeeping
In addition to credit courses, Yap Campus has the flexibility and capability to offer tailored non-credit trainings/courses to address expressed needs in the communities. Currently it serves two sponsored programs: Cooperative Research & Extension and TRiO Upward Bound Program.
Yap Campus facilities include two computer labs, a learning resource center, a science lab, CRE research labs, a vocational education building, classrooms and offices. Under construction are two new facilities which will be completed around August 2011. The two new facilities will be a student center and a classroom building.
