Cooperative Research Extension (CRE)
Cooperative Research Extension has two components:
- Cooperative Extension Service (CES)
- Agriculture Experiment Services (AES)
Cooperative Extension Service (CES)
Cooperative Extension Service (CES) focuses on developing and assisting a well-informed populace to ensure wise and judicious management of the limited human and natural resources needed to support a viable FSM economy. The challenge is to ensure a constantly improving quality of life, while maintaining a strong cultural identity and healthy environment. These challenges are addressed through community level outreach programs in agriculture improvement, youth development, community resource development and nutrition education.
Agriculture Experiment Station (AES)
Yap AES Station generates knowledge through strategic research to enhance agriculture, natural resources and communities in Yap. Its mission is fuelled by close ties with extension, State agencies, community groups and other stakeholders as well as support from local government. Yap AES, through excellent research and extension programs, help to build a sustainable island community and economy that is culturally and environmentally appropriate.
