Welcome to the Pohnpei State Campus of the College of Micronesia FSM!
The goals of this campus are to provide short and long-term, academic and vocational, certificate and degree programs as dictated by the needs of the local communities and governments, and to provide courses and programs to bridge the gap between high school and college.
In this endeavor, our campus serves approximately 550 students each semester and offers an Associate of Science degree (A.S.) in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM), Associate of Applied Science degrees (A.A.S.) in Telecommunication Technology, Electronics Technology, and Building Technology, and certificate programs in general studies, bookkeeping, secretarial science, law enforcement, health assistant training, and trial counseling. In addition, our Vocational Education program offers certificate courses in carpentry, cabinet making, construction electricity, electronic engineering, building maintenance and repair, career education majoring in auto mechanics, and small engine, equipment, and outboard motor repair.
Our apprenticeship programs include: Electronics, Telecommunication, Electrical, Building Maintenance and Repair, Carpentry, Cabinet-Making, Automotive, and Police Officer I. At the Pohnpei campus, we take great pride in offering professional development training, vocational training, and general interest classes to the community at large. Customized training programs include office procedures, customer service, middle management training, tour guide training, and computer literacy skills, among others. Moreover, the campus is currently engaging in four outreach programs funded by the United States Government. They are: the Educational Talent Search Program, Upward Bound Program, School-to-Work, and Teachers’ Quality Enhancement Program.
Pohnpei Campus is also home of the new Pohnpei Business Development Center, a joint Pohnpei State Government and COM-FSM project to assist businesses and entrepreneurs on Pohnpei. The program started to offer services and training in April 2006. The building to house the program will be constructed at the upper campus site near the vocational program area. At present the program has a temporary office near the Pohnpei Campus Nahs at the lower campus.
Again, welcome and thank you for visiting our Pohnpei Campus Administration homepage for the College of Micronesia-FSM.
