The mission of the COM-FSM Social Science
Division, with five full-time faculty, is to provide quality
instruction for social science courses that support the various
degree programs at the college. In addition, the division is
also charged with the operation of the college’s Micronesian
Studies A.A. Degree Program.
The general goal of social science
instruction at COM-FSM is to teach students to understand the social
and psychological dynamics of societies and individuals and the ways
in which humans interact with their physical environment.
The purpose of the Micronesian Studies
Program is to produce graduates with extensive knowledge and
understanding of Micronesian society, politics, public policy,
economics, geography and culture in preparation for careers in
government and education or transfer to a four-year
college. |
