HARDWARE

It is important to determine exactly what hardware you have and its quality. The quality of your hardware refers to age, speed, and capacity. Many older computers can not be connected to networks or use current software; therefore, they are considered obsolete. Many of these computers still have valuable uses, and can be "deployed", or given a new purpose within the organization. In order to make the best possible use of existing hardware; your technology inventory should contain the following information for each computer system:

Computer type (e.g. desktop, laptop, and mainframe)
Computer manufacturer, model, and characteristics (e.g., type of CUP, amount of RAM, and hard disk size)
Peripherals and capabilities they support
Networking capability
