Wilson J. Kalio is a Professor here at COM-FSM National  campus and also an Associate  Minister in Madolenihmw.  He lives in Sokehs with his Pohnpeian wife.  He has two boys and two grandchildren.  His education goes back to when  he attended CCM in 1971 and then left Pohnpei to further his education in California.  He also attended UH  Manoa  in Hawaii and UOG in Guam.

After two years of college education, he became a grade school teacher and taught for six years.  With  the assistance and encouragement of his lead American supervisor, Mr. Loren Peterson, he excelled and was promoted to an administrative position at the State Department of Education as a Specialist.  He served for several years before transferring to become the Registrar, and finally the Coordinator for the Office of Admissions and Records at College of Micronesia-FSM.

There were two reasons that prompted him to become an instructor at COM-FSM.  He stated: “My experiences at the College exposed me to interaction  with many people from many different cultures and levels of education.  It was because of this experience and the competitive demand for credentials that I decided to join the faculty so that I could have the chance to pursue graduate studies.  While still at OAR, I was given a part time chance to teach advanced English courses.  I found this experience so challenging and rewarding that I wanted to continue.  Thus, my reasons for becoming a faculty”.

Prof. Wilson  J. Kalio is a great teacher and a good friend.  Additionally, teaching has always been his  main interest. "Teaching is number 1, 2, and 3; everything else is number 4", according to Prof. Kalio.  He enjoys teaching his students and would love to help out any student.  Apart from teaching, he also enjoys helping out his community as a Minister. In fact, it was at his community's request that he also became a Minister.  He loves what he is doing and finds it interesting. And we feel the same about him. We're very happy to have him available to us now as a teacher.
