Business Administration Program Conducts BSBAA Internship Workshop

On October 6, 2023, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting (BSBAA) program at COM-FSM held its first Internship Workshop at the MITC. The theme of the workshop was "Enhancing Intercultural Oral and Written Communication Skills Essential for Career Success."

The workshop was designed to address the gap identified in the midterm evaluations, which revealed that students needed additional support in developing their intercultural communication skills.

The workshop began with an inspirational speech from VPIA Delihna Manuel-Ehmes. She congratulated the first graduates of the BSBAA program in advance and encouraged students to appreciate the resources available to them locally. She also asked trivia questions and gave out prizes to successful students.

Resource persons were invited to discuss a variety of topics related to business communication, including trends, workplace decorum and office etiquette, and securing work and promotion.

Dr. Maclain Worswick discussed business communication trends and emphasized the importance of documenting office communication and learning to write business letters using available technology.

Prof. Marian Gratia Medalla inculcated the importance of workplace decorum and office etiquette in the interns' minds by relating hilarious anecdotes.

Dr. George Mangonon gave out tips and strategies on securing work and promotion.

The workshop was a success, with students expressing their excitement at being able to meet and see each other face-to-face for the first time since classes went online. They enjoyed mingling with their classmates and professors and sharing their joys and laughter, even if it was only for a short period of time.

Overall, the Internship Workshop was a valuable experience for students in the BSBAA program. It provided them with the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and develop the intercultural communication skills they need to succeed in their careers.
