Chuuk Campus Completes EBSCO and PDL Training

WENO, Chuuk (September 12, 2012) - The College of Micronesia-FSM, Chuuk Campus Learning Resources Center held another training session for students on EBSCO and PDL.

The training took place during the first week of September where students were trained on how to use EBSCO and the Pacific Digital Library (PDL), a project supported by the college.

Ninety-five students participated in the sessions where they were given the opportunity to visit the sites available through EBSCO and PDL.

Ms. Jayleen Kokis gave a presentation on the Pacific Digital Library and how it was started as well as the process for uploading documents to the PDL.

EBSCO is an online database of journal articles made available through Pacific Resources for Educational Learning (PREL).  It offers Academic Search Premier, MasterFILE Premier, and ERIC among others. Academic Search Premier offers full text articles from more than 4,600 journals and caters to academic institutions. MasterFILE Premier contains full text for more than 1,926 periodicals covering reference, business, health, education, science, multicultural issues, and more. The database also contains full text for more than 160 reference books, 96,600 biographies and 76,000 primary source documents. ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center, provides full text of more than 2,200 digests plus abstracts from over 1,000 educational journals.
