Update from the President's Office
FSM Information Services & Pohnpei State Government/Enginkehlap issued a Joint Press Release announcing a crew member of MV Chief Mailo has tested positive for COVID-19. The crew are quarantined on the ship and health officials are quarantined at China Star. The press release states there is no threat to the community at this time. In line with the COM-FSM Emergency Management Plan, COVID-19 response plan, Appendix G, some services at the college campuses located in Pohnpei will change.
- Anyone entering a COM-FSM campus must properly wear a mask (covers both nose and mouth); observe social distancing (6 feet or 2 arm lengths apart); wear identification badge on the right side of the chest area and visible to others; obtain a visitors badge if not a student or employee; check in at security check points for temperature check. Wash hands or use hand sanitizers frequently. These regulations will be strictly enforced and anyone not willing to comply will be asked to leave the campus
- In person classes starting Monday, January 11 are postponed to January 25, 2021.
- In-person registration for National Campus and CTEC will be cancelled on Monday, January 11, 2021 — but online registration shall continue under its established deadline or extended deadline. In-person registration for National Campus and CTEC will resume Wednesday, January 13, 2021 (allowing clear communications on new guidelines how to register in-person, which will be by appointment)
- Delivery of services by FAO, counseling and tutorial shall be by appointment and remotely. Check our website on Monday, Jan 11, for contact information for these services.
- Resident students of the RHs shall be restricted to remain on campus, off-campus trips are cancelled until further notice, except for exigent circumstances authorized by the VPEMSS.
Interim President will continue to monitor public announcements and may either shorten or extend the dates for these changes.
