College Holds 68th Commencement Exercises
Palikir, Pohnpei (December 19, 2018) – The College celebrated its 68th Commencement Exercises on Wednesday May 18, 2018, at the Main Gym of the FSM-China Friendship Sports Center. With the theme “Today we follow, tomorrow we lead", 208 candidates graduated from the Career Technical and Technical Education Center (CTEC) and National campuses.
Commencement speaker at this year's commencement exercises was Congressman Ferny S. Perman, of Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia, who encouraged the graduates to “use the skills and knowledge that COM-FSM has bestowed upon them and the entire nation is behind their back.”
College President Joseph M. Daisy Ed.D. provided the welcoming remarks at the ceremony. Mitchell Marino and Maryfe Quiambao delivered the Valedictory address. Conferring degrees to graduates was given by Board of Regents Chairman, Dr. Tulensru Waguk, and accepting the graduates was the Secretary of the FSM Department of Education, the Honorable Kalwin Kephas.
In attendance were the Honorable Yosiwo P. George, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia, the college’s Board of Regents Johannes Berdon, and Pelma Mingii. Also in attendance were members of the diplomatic corps, leaders from both the local and national governments, and members of the college community at large.
Twenty six of the 208 candidates graduated with academic honors. Twelve achieved the rights to be on the President’s List, and fourteen made the dean’s list.
Seventy Four students were graduated from the college’s degree and certificate of achievement programs in the summer of 2018. Thirty four were from the National Campus, 10 from CTEC, 9 from Chuuk Campus, 16 from Kosrae Campus, and 5 from Yap Campus.
