PALIKIR, Pohnpei (March 15, 2012) - Young Executives Society. That's the name of the newest student club that business majors formed at the College of Micronesia-FSM National Campus on March 9, 2012. Also known as YES!, the group held it's organizational meeting at the MITC and elected its charter officers, headed by Amelia Antreas as President, Shirley-Ann Pelep as Vice President, Kenye Rosemarie Jonas as Secretary, and Leola Susaia as Treasurer.
In addition to these key officers, YES! members also gave a resounding "Yes!" to Antreas' suggestion that they likewise choose two representatives from each state to facilitate communication and ensure wider participation among them. They then grouped themselves according to their state of origin, and named the following as representatives: Miklyn Paul and Meyer Rieuo for Chuuk, Ernest Phillip and Melten Leopold for Pohnpei, Brucelene Ileyangbung and John Fagalyinug for Yap, and, Arnold Moody and Arthy Welly for Kosrae.
In accepting her mandate, Antreas vowed to do her best to serve the association, and called upon everyone to cooperate and support future projects of YES! under her leadership. The other officers also expressed their commitment, and thanked their fellow students for their trust.
Speaking at the start of the meeting, Business Division Chair Joseph Felix, Jr. congratulated the students for their determination to form this club. Felix, Jr. said that the students “will make history in this college, because today will be born a group of business students who have come together to bind themselves into an association that will be our partners in shaping a better economic future for you and the FSM. We at the Business Division will always be here to support you and your association," he said.
