President Daisy Leads Induction of New Officers for YES!
Palikir, Pohnpei (September 21, 2016) - COM-FSM President and CEO, Dr. Joseph M. Daisy inducted newly elected officers of the Young Executives Society (YES!) on September 23, 2016 at the College's Center for Entrepreneurship.
The new YES! officers are: Hainrick Isaac, president; Artray Irons, vice-president; Kasilda Aldens, secretary; Tisha Max, treasurer; Kyle Kony and Sarah Elma Reiou, Chuuk state representatives; Gracia Astete and Jennifer Serrano, Kosrae state representatives; Dezmond Anson and Steve Mendiola, Jr., Pohnpei state representatives; Leah Torwan and Zerolyn Tineg Manangyen, Yap state representatives; and, Praiselyn Lodge, non-FSM state representative. They will serve for academic year 2016-2017.
President Daisy, in his message to the young student leaders, expressed his high regard for them because of their clarity of vision and well-defined objectives. He cited COM-FSM alumnus Chris Yamada, as an example. Also a Business major like them and a former YES! president (AY 2012-2013), Mr. Yamada obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, major in Management, at the University of Hawaii in Hilo last spring. He recently returned to Pohnpei and was excited to share with the college his ideas and valuable experiences from abroad that he believes could help improve our curriculum. He will go back to the U.S. Mainland with definite plans about getting employed, finding a place to stay, and building a successful career.
Stressing the great synergy between the Young Executives Society and the Center for Entrepreneurship, President Daisy also pointed out that the organization's name (YES!) could actually mean two things, the second being the 'Young Entrepreneurs Society.' The entrepreneurial spirit, after all, is what drives the successful executive, he added.
The six concrete study tables, which took three years to complete under the leadership of past presidents Alden Damarlane (AY 2013-2014), Ioakim Loney, Jr. (AY 2014-2015), and Midson Tom (AY 2015-2016), are by far the biggest project on campus that YES! undertook jointly with the United Filipino Community of Pohnpei (UFCP), led at the time by Mr. Russell Figueras.
The Young Executives Society is deeply grateful to the following donors and sponsors for their contributions, financial and otherwise, to the successful completion of the said project: Bank of the Federated States of Micronesia (BFSM), Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Federated States of Micronesia, CTSI Logistics - Western Union, Mr. Kumer Panuelo, Bank of Guam (BOG), APSCO, Mr. Midson Tom, and the Center for Entrepreneurship.
