Exchange Students Sit in on Micronesian Studies Program

Palikir, Pohnpei - Japanese students from Sophia University visited the Micronesian Studies Program at the beginning of the Fall 2015 semester.

The History of Micronesia and Micronesian Cultural Studies classes were classes that the visiting students sat in.  During the classroom visits, in-class activities were delivered to allow student-student interactions as the main mode of learning for both the visiting and COM-FSM students. In a brief discussion with the Japanese students, they shared positive feedback on their visits and how much they have learned about the Micronesian Culture and its friendly people.

The Japanese students have also announced that they will be coming back sometime next year for another visit. Both the students and instructors in the Micronesian Studies program are looking forward to this as an opportunity for learning and exchange.
