Japanese Fishing Firm Employs FMI Graduates

Abay, Yap (FSM FMI) – Four graduates from FSM Fisheries & Maritime Institute (FSM-FMI) were hired by Japanese fishing firm Daishin Fishery Co., LTD, Japan.  Two representatives from Daishin Fishery Co., LTD, Mr. Kouji Mochida and Mr. Naoya Takemasa, flew to Yap  from Tokyo, Japan, and visited FSM-FMI to interview graduates.

After the interviews hired were:  Jonathan Giltamag, Advanced Certificate of Achievement in Fishing Technology, Spring 2013;  Rolison Hasiugluw, Advanced Certificate of Achievement in Navigation (Class 5 Master); Sylvester Ngalen, Advanced Certificate of Achievement in Marine Engineering (Class 5); and Shaun Taueg, Certificate of Achievement in Navigation (Class 6 Master).  Both Rolinson Hasiugluw and Shaun Taueg also took fishing technology courses.

Daishin Co. representatives say that they will be coming back next year to interview the graduating class of 2016, which will enable them to also interview cadets who are from the other FSM States.
