Duties:
Reporting directly to the Aquaculture Researcher, the research assistant will carry out a range of activities to support aquaculture research initiatives including field surveys and data collection. Provide support for all aspects of the on-going, funded and proposed research program including field and laboratory work as assigned by the researcher. Collect, analyze and report the results of projects and trails to the researcher. Communicate with the local farmers and stakeholders as instructed by the researcher to support research projects. Report progress and respond to local interest in projects. Participate in the preparation of materials for training workshops, sessions, classes and seminars. Maintaining a good relationship with local agencies and partner organizations. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and serve on committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certificate in Agriculture and Food Technology plus 2 years of field experience in aquaculture, Agriculture or Natural Resources. Applicant must have the ability to write and understand English reports, documents and to communicate effectively in public meetings and media in the local language. Be physically capable of working for extended periods in field conditions. Be able to work a variable work schedule and meet work schedules. Knowledge of: Microsoft Office word, excel, publisher and PowerPoint. Special Skills: Demonstrated successful verbal and written communication skills. Preferred: An associate of science in a relevant program, scuba diving certificate.
